Why?
The big question. If I have been so successful at my media career, then why do I want to work for Eighty-Eight Brewing?
Well, here’s the rub…
Three years ago, I lost my job as Morning Show announcer on Jack FM Calgary following company-wide cutbacks and a less than cuddly new boss and it broke my heart. They had to pay out my contract which turned out to be a good thing because two of my kids developed health issues and I was able to be a stay at home parent and focus on writing. Now the kids are doing better I am able to return to work. But I don’t think I want to return to radio. Instead, I would like to take all my passion, creativity and work ethic to an industry that makes something I still love.
And boy, do I love beer.
I love everything about it. The taste, the creation, the chemistry, the pairings with food, the can and pump head designs but most of all I love how beer brings people together.
I had a lovely couple of hours in your brewery Saturday sampling yours with my wife and love the fact that your Hazy IPA does not let the hops disappear into the haze like others, your NEPA has a genuinely unique sweet wheatiness and your Rosé Saison is up there with the best beer I have tasted in Canada. And I have worked my way in beers right across the country since landing in Halifax 11 years ago, so I know my stuff.
Let me bring all this to Eighty-Eight Brewing.
